Senior Communications Specialist, open until filled

Pima Association of Governments is seeking an enthusiastic, mid-level Senior Communications Specialist to support organizational branding and marketing communication strategies. Advance your career skills in this integrated marketing communication position with excellent benefits. A bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, communications, business, journalism, public administration or a related field is preferred. A minimum of five years of project management experience in one of the above areas is required. Excellent writing and interpersonal skills, and attention to details are desired.

Preferred skills include proficiency in MS Office Suite, Adobe InDesign, website CMS, basic HTML, Hootsuite and email marketing software.

General Description

Under general supervision of the Communications Director, the Sr. Communications Specialist will work to support the Communications program at Pima Association of Governments with a focus on integrated marketing communication (web, social media, newsletters, reports, advertising), public outreach, public involvement, event management, and oversight of the PAG public stakeholder contact (CRM) database to build the PAG brand, vision and mission to internal and external stakeholders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Write brand-consistent content for websites, social media, newsletters, reports, advertising and other materials as assigned.
Manage website development to align content and design with PAG branding. Must be familiar with using content management systems (ie., DNN or WordPress).
Develop, execute and analyze email marketing campaigns using email marketing software (e.g. Constant Contact). This includes development and management of databases (ie., Constant Contact).
Manage digital marketing communication, including through websites and social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube). This includes tracking and analyzing website (Google analytics) and social media usage and creating reports as assigned.
Develop and manage surveys (SurveyMonkey) and analyze results as needed.
Manage contracted media buys and advertising services (radio, newspaper, television, digital, social media and transit), evaluate for results.
Coordinate development of marketing communication plans and/or execute scheduled strategies and tactics within budget to raise awareness of the PAG brand. Coordinate project schedules, internal production team and outside vendors, as needed, to deliver exceptional results, on time and on budget.
Coordinate community outreach for activities that support and build awareness of PAG/RTA programs. This may include, but is not limited to, developing and giving presentations; meetings with PAG/RTA stakeholders; coordinating, planning and participating in events.
Work occasionally requires attending events outside normal duty hours including early mornings, evenings and weekends. Support updates to PAG's Public Involvement Policy as required. Apply current public participation principles and practices, and educate staff in public involvement requirements.
Maintain effective working relationships with PAG's internal and external stakeholders, including staff, elected officials, the media and the public.
Perform other tasks as assigned.

Minimum Education and/or Experience Requirements

At a minimum, requires combination of knowledge, skills and abilities to perform duties AND EITHER an undergraduate degree with five years of related experience OR a graduate degree with three years of related experience OR equivalent. Preferred degree in public relations, communication, marketing, business, journalism, public administration, or related field.

Skills and Abilities

Must have strong writing skills, including strong copywriting and editing skills.
Demonstrates strong attention to detail, context, accuracy and brand consistency for quality results.
Must have digital media skills to navigate and manage social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, etc.)
Must have survey development (Survey Monkey), database management and marketing research skills.
Demonstrates critical decision-making skills and strategic-thinking capabilities
Demonstrates initiative, time management and simultaneous project management skills.
Demonstrates strong interpersonal and collaborative team participation skills.
Demonstrates strong presentation skills.
Demonstrates strong customer service skills.

Computer skills

Demonstrate proficiency in MS Office Suite and Outlook; Adobe InDesign, website CMS (e.g. DNN, WordPress), basic HTML, database software or systems; webinar software, SurveyMonkey, email marketing software (e.g. Constant Contact), Dropbox, Google Analytics, Google Docs, Twitter and Facebook, Hootsuite.
Ability to perform quantitative analysis, understand statistical methods, create spreadsheets and databases is beneficial.
