Population Clarification - Only the 22 cities, towns (population 35,000+) and top 10 Arizona counties have the June 25, 2009, application deadline to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).
The balance of state funding will include 68 cities, towns (with a population below 35,000) and five Arizona counties. These entities will be eligible to apply directly to the Arizona Department of Commerce Energy Office for Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) funding.
The State of Arizona has until May 26, 2009, to apply for this allocation. DOE estimates that processing applications may take 60-90 days. After we receive approval, we estimate that communities and counties interested in applying for funding will have a mid-July to late July deadline to complete applications. We will provide more information as it becomes available in June, depending on the State’s application process.
All cities, towns and counties will be considered. The location of these entities, urban or rural, is not a deciding factor.
