New EPA Ozone Standards
On Oct. 1, the Environmental Protection Agency made the National Ambient Air Quality Standard for ground-level ozone stricter. The standard was lowered from 75 ppb to 70 ppb. According to the Pima County Department of Environmental Quality, we are slightly below the new standard, which keeps us in attainment for the time being. We won't know for sure until the end of the ozone season next year. One of the most effective ways to help reduce ozone and to make sure we stay in compliance with the new standard is by taking alternative transportation. So thanks to everyone for logging your trips and participating in the Blue Skies Challenge. Every little bit helps.
