The primary goal of Phase 1is the development of an ongoing program to address the ADA needs along the pedestrian facilities maintained by the Pima County Department of Transportation (PCDOT). The PCDOT staff wishes to take a more proactive approach to achieve ADA compliance. An Advisory/Oversight Committee was formed to assist in this effort.
The committee members include representation from several disability advocacy organizations, representation from PAG, representation from Pima County Departments familiar with ADA issues, and representation from PCDOT divisions responsible for the design, operation and maintenance of roadways, which include sidewalks and pathways located in roadway rights of way, within unincorporated Pima County.
Phase 1 is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2010.
Phase 2 is expected to commence shortly after the Phase 1 is completed. During Phase 2, the actual Transition Plan Update will be completed.
