Pima Association of Government manages the Regional Transportation Authority and its 20-year regional transportation plan. The $2.1 billion plan was approved by Pima County voters on May 16, 2006. The RTA is now celebrating the completion of its first five years with about 450 project completions. The plan is funded by a 1/2-cent excise tax, along with other regional and local dollars, such as developer impact fees. The multi-modal plan includes funding for the modern streetcar.
The plan includes roadway, transit, safety, and environmental and economic vitality improvements. The RTA is the fiscal manager of the plan. Projects in the plan are managed by PAG-member jurisdictions.
