Public Involvement Policy Update

Pima Association of Governments (PAG) encourages public involvement to ensure consensus among the jurisdictions and the people who live in the region regarding regional planning and programming activities. PAG’s Public Involvement Policy provides guidance on how to establish public participation from a wide spectrum of public interests.

The public has access to PAG’s meetings and planning data and is invited to participate in focus groups, workshops and surveys. Activities are designed to encourage a two-way exchange of information and ideas.

The PAG Regional Council recently approved an update to the Public Involvement Policy.

PAG is an association of local, tribal and state governments and a metropolitan planning organization that is federally required (23 CFR 450.316 [b] [1]) by the Federal Highway Administration to have a public involvement process to qualify for federal funds dedicated to advancing regional transportation planning efforts. This PIP also addresses Federal Transit Administration requirements for a public participation process for the FTA-required Program of Projects (49 U.S.C. 5307[c]), which is developed by the City of Tucson. The draft PIP is an update to PAG's original policy prepared in 1994, updated in 2006 and amended in 2012.
