Each day, area employers lose money because their workers arrive at work frustrated, stressed out or just late because they drove alone to work. Others don’t arrive at all because they don’t have affordable and reliable transportation. Employers can improve worker productivity, attendance and retention by promoting alternative modes of transportation at the work place.
When workers carpool, vanpool, ride the bus, bike or walk to work they arrive ready to work. They also use less resources which benefits both the community and the employer.

Suggested Transportation Plan Activities:
- Appoint a transportation coordinator
- Promote alternative transportation through company intranet, newsletters, posters, fairs, etc.
- Provide preferential or free parking for carpools and vanpools
- Subsidize bus passes, carpool and vanpool fares
- Provide shower facilities for bikers and walkers
- Recognize employees who do the right thing
