One of the main obstacles to using an alternative mode of transportation for commuting is the fear of being stranded at work without transportation. What happens when your child is sick at school and you carpooled that day? Or your boss asks you to stay late to finish a project and the last bus leaves at 7 p.m. Pima Association of Governments and Sun Tran provide Guaranteed Ride Home for just these types of situations. GRH is free taxi service for registered commuters when there is an emergency or unexpected overtime.
To qualify for GRH, you must use an alternative mode of transportation, such as carpooling, vanpooling, biking, riding the bus, and walking at least twice a week. All participants must live and work in Pima County. You can register your commute with PAG through the Web site, mail or fax. A taxi voucher is now available as needed at www.884ride.org/ridepro. Login with your email address and password and follow the instructions to print a voucher. If you do not have an email address a paper voucher will be sent to your home address to use in the case of an emergency. Each registrant can use up to four vouchers every 12 months.
Qualifying emergencies:
- Personal or family illness
- Personal or family emergency
- Unexpected overtime
- No transportation because of carpool or vanpool driver emergency
