Clean Fuels/Clean Cities

Pima Association of Governments manages Clean Cities, a voluntary program of the U.S. Department of Energy to expand the use of alternatives to gasoline and diesel fuel, accelerate the use of alternative fuel vehicles and build a local refueling infrastructure for these vehicles.

Through its coalition of over 90 members, Clean Cities works with local businesses and government to guide them through the process necessary to establish the foundation for a viable alternative fuels market to help reduce dependence on foreign oil and reduce vehicle emissions, the single largest contributor to air pollution in many cities.

Alternative fuels include biodiesel, ethanol (E85), compressed natural gas, propane, hybrid electric, fuel cell and hydrogen technologies.

There are 2 levels of commitment a Coalition member can make: Saguaro or Cholla. The Saguaro membership category offers a higher level of engagement by PAG staff to support individual Coalition members. The Cholla membership category is designed to allow individuals and organizations to participate in the Clean Cities Coalition and be recognized for their efforts.  Please click on Clean Cities Coalition Members here or under the links on the right for more information.

Special Event

An Evening with Doug Fine

Friday, Oct. 15
6-8 p.m.
Location TBA

Tucson Regional Clean Cities presents Doug Fine, an award-winning author and investigative journalist who has been featured on NPR.

He wrote Not Really An Alaskan Mountain Man and Farewell, My Subaru, the latter about living a sustainable lifestyle without giving up digital age comforts. The book, now a bestseller, garnered his first appearance on The Tonight Show. Fine now travels and speaks about his sustainable realizations. Despite the myriad accolades, he still milks his goats when his vegetable oil truck exhaust isn't giving him the munchies (it smells like Kung Pao Chicken). This event is Jerry Seinfeld meets Edward Abbey - come laugh your way to sustainability. For more info, see Doug's carbon-neutral blogs and videos at www.dougfine.com.

For admission, Tucson Regional Clean Cities requests that everyone bring two cans of food per person to be donated to the Community Food Bank.
