The Arizona Department of Transportation’s (ADOT) widening of Interstate 10 from Prince Road to 29th Street continues to outpace its original schedule, and it remains within budget. Nearly two years after entrance and exit ramps were closed so that construction could proceed, the westbound I-10 entrance ramp at Miracle Mile was reopened two weeks ahead of time. Other ramp openings will occur as follows:
Eastbound entrance ramps, as well as east- and westbound I-10 exit ramps, will remain closed until access to additional lanes on I-10 and traffic configuration on the frontage roads can meet standards to ensure safety in areas of merging traffic.
In recent weeks, additional areas for emergency stops were provided along I-10. Also, there is now a greater separation between eastbound and westbound I-10 traffic. The final layer of rubberized asphalt paving has been slated to begin on the west side of I-10.
The project is scheduled to be completed by December.
