PAG partners on grant initiative to advance
procurement of alt fuel vehicle technologies

Pima Association of Governments and its Tucson Regional Clean Cities Coalition, are in the process of establishing best practices for a regional procurement process for alternative fuel and/or advanced technology vehicles in support of a national effort to reduce petroleum consumption.

The U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Clean Cities Program is funding this initiative through the Aggregated Alternative Technology Alliance (AATA), which aims to reduce petroleum consumption by 2.5 billion gallons per year by 2020. PAG’s Clean Cities program will administer and manage the regional procurement process for the Western region of the United States under a contract with the National Association of Regional Councils, or NARC.

The AATA is a partnership among five regional councils, nine Clean Cities’ coalitions and five technical partners that is dedicated to advancing alternative fuel vehicle technologies through targeted outreach and education and the coordination of five large regional procurement initiatives and one national scale initiative. The alliance encourages peer exchange to leverage best practices, share and modify procurement templates as needed and access experts in the alternative fuel and technology industry.
