Economic Vitality Advisory Committee

The PAG Economic Vitality Advisory Committee, established in early 2014, works to identify ways to align the region’s transportation planning efforts with economic development opportunities. The committee, which has a transportation emphasis, explores various topics of regional significance that affect the community’s economic vitality, such as land use, tourism and trade, to evaluate how transportation projects and policies influence economic development outcomes.

Committee members are representatives of PAG-member jurisdictions, including city and town managers, as well as representatives of higher education institutions and economic development-focused organizations. Tom McGovern, a Tucson Metro Chamber board member, currently chairs the committee and Lea Márquez Peterson, president of the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, serves as the vice chair. The committee meets quarterly following PAG Management Committee meetings.

PAG, which functions as a council of governments, also is a federally mandated metropolitan planning organization. Metropolitan transportation planning efforts must include strategies that support economic vitality of the metropolitan area, especially those that enable global competitiveness, productivity and efficiency.

APPLY TODAY!
Export Recognition Program

Are you an exporter in the Sun Corridor megaregion? Whether your business is emerging, proficient or expert, you are encouraged to submit an application with your success story for the Sun Corridor EDGE Export Recognition Program so that your company can be recognized, and others can learn from your success.

Since 2009, PAG and other Sun Corridor metropolitan planning organizations have coordinated their respective planning activities through a planning partnership called the Joint Planning Advisory Council, or JPAC. Focused on consciously fostering our region’s economic vitality, JPAC once again will be formally celebrating the successes of exporters in Maricopa, Pinal and Pima counties as part of its Sun Corridor EDGE (Economic Development for the Global Economy) program at a special event in April.

The Sun Corridor EDGE program works to support companies in Maricopa, Pinal and Pima counties in their efforts to expand into global markets, a keystone to accelerating economic development and job creation in the megaregion. And the Sun Corridor EDGE Export Recognition Program celebrates companies making serious strides to that end.

Applications for the Sun Corridor EDGE 2018 Export Recognition Program are being accepted now through 3 p.m. on February 28 at www.jpacaz.org.
